Healing Enters the Digital Age

The Information Age is an idea that the current era will be defined by our ability to transfer information freely and have instant access to knowledge that was once difficult or impossible to find.

The idea is linked to the concept of a Digital Age, which describes the use of computers, internet, and other emerging technologies that allow us to manipulate information.  Digital technologies have opened doors to rapid innovation in all fields, including communication, education, industry, and frontier medicine.

Biofeedback is a well-established form of behavioral medicine that is being revolutionized by emerging digital technologies.

Computers and special interface devices have given us new ways of measuring biological information, and this is changing how we look at human biology.  The reductionist, mechanistic view of “the body as a machine,” is outdated.  We are seeing the emergence of a new, modern view that recognizes that we are more than the sum of our physical and chemical parts.

The previously held belief that humans are "bags of bio-molecules" that randomly collide and result in body, mind, and spirit, is giving way.  Rather, we are whole “beings,” and our physical and chemical aspects are governed by energetic fields that are imbued with information and are interactive with consciousness.  At the smallest, "quantic," level of matter, our material existence is influenced by the consciousness of the observer.

We are interactive with the information from our environment, relationships, thoughts, emotions, nutrition, society, and energy, in its many forms.  Quantum field theories provide more adequate and complete explanations for biological and super-conscious phenomena that are not just "scientific anomalies," but are actually facets of human experience.

Frontier science and traditional wisdom are telling us similar things. Our health and well-being are determined by more than our molecules and chemistry.  To a greater extent, they are determined by what information we know, how we think, what we think, what we choose, how we feel, how we perceive, how we behave, and what signals we are exposed to via our surroundings.

The results of these things affect us physically.  By changing them, we influence the probabilities of certain outcomes manifested in our bodies.

The nature of Medicine is changing in the Digital Age.  Information is available to all of us, and new technologies are helping us to tap into our complete human nature and engage our full power for healing on all levels - Body, Mind, and Spirit.

"Informational Medicine,  medicine that  takes information and changes disturbed information, is going to be the future of medicine."

Lynne McTaggart, Author of "The Field" and "The Intention Experiment"

"We're beginning now to understand things that we know in our hearts were true but could not measure. As we get better at understanding how little we know about the body, we begin to realize that the next big frontier, in medicine, is energy medicine. It's not the mechanistic parts of the joints moving. It's not the chemistry of our bodies. It's understanding for the first time, how energy influences how we feel."
